As many of you know, I plan on tackling the Appalachian Trail starting May 1, 2009. As of today I have complete a little over 200 miles. A lot of it in the last year and a half.
On May 1, I will leave from Snowden Dam on the James River and head south for about 3 weeks and then return home for about a week. I need to attend my youngest Grandson's high school graduation, get a check up from my Doctor, etc. After that I will go north from the Front Royal area and see how far I get. If/When I make it to Mt. Kathadin, I will come back and start from wherever I finished in Virginia and head south to Springer Mtn. Georgia. An ambitious project to say the least.
I know that many people start this hike and that most do not complete it. That could happen to me. It may very well. But in my opinion, there is no shame in not completing the hike. Only shame if I do not try it.
Wish me luck and I will try to update this whenever I can.
